Industry Designation Achieved!

Monday was a bit of a red-letter day for me. While it may seem boring to others, after multiple courses and tests, I finally received my "Fellow, Financial Services Institute" designation from the Life Office Management Association.

I have completed over 14 college level courses and been tested on each one as part of this program. Although only 10 were required, I picked up 2 other designations along the way.

Although I have long been interested in investments, finance, interest rates, the stock and bond markets, etc., correctly answering at least 80% of 750 questions (10 courses, 75 questions each) has proven challenging. Even I was bored at times (the word "excruciating" came to mind several times as I studied!).

What does this mean? Well, it probably means that I now have just as good a chance as a trained monkey to pick good stocks and mutual funds LOL. But even more importantly, it has helped me to understand the financial services industry much better.

Looking for advice on your portfolio? Give me a call. I promise to so thoroughly confuse us both, that you WILL end up going to a trained monkey for advice instead!

Now I need to go see the doctor since I apparently sprained my shoulder while patting myself on the back! :-)

Until next time...
